I think scrapbooking would be a fun and creative outlet for my daughter but how can she get started. Where can I find supplies and materials to get started? Is there a basic kit or set?

there is a kit availale. You need glue, scissors, cloth, pictures. Preferably get the kind with questions already on them. help her and make her choose most of the things though

I don’t know myself, but I have seen an infomercial repeated on various cable TV stations selling what looks to be a good starter kit. It comes complete with books, various scissors, glue, many types of papers, lettering, frames, and borders. K.

Look for a local scrapbooking store and check to see if they offer classes. Some community evening schools offer scrapbooking classes. But a scrapbooking store is your best bet.
There are kits and sets, also individual pieces which are fun too. Its all up the scrapbooker! Supplies can be found at stores and places like Wal-mart have a small but affordable section.
Scrapbooking can get expensive.
I teach my girls to sew and get them their own basic machine when they turned 12…that was fun and they got a skill they could use professionally etc for the rest of their lives.

A good place to start is about.com
which has articles showing how to get started
and supplies
and even Free Stuff
Topics on the clickable links in red on the left also include product reviews, layouts and digital scrapbooking. In the ‘Offers’ section there are assembled kits for kid’s scrapbooking too.

Usually in scrapbooking stores there are starter kits that involve a book and some pages. They are usually in themes such as school or fall etc. Ask her what she wants to do then help her. Also for cheap supplies look around in Big Lots. You can find good stuff for cheap.
